Cordweb Woven Strapping

When securing cargo that shifts or needs gentle containment, Cordstrap's woven strapping offers the perfect blend of strength and flexibility. Trusted across the transportation and export industries, woven polyester strapping is designed to protect both the cargo and the crew handling it.

At US Cargo Control, our woven strapping provides a reliable and safe alternative to traditional steel banding - ideal for professionals who need securement that adapts under pressure.

What is Woven Strapping?

Woven strapping is made from coated high-tenacity polyester filament yarns that are interlaced for exceptional strength and stretch. This structure makes it highly flexible and perfect for loads that require a secure yet forgiving hold. Unlike traditional steel banding, woven polyester strapping won't snap back or damage sensitive surfaces.

Its soft edges, high shock absorption, and resilience under dynamic stress make it the go-to choice for cargo that needs consistent tension without compromise.

Cordweb vs. Composite Strapping

  • Softer Touch: The softer, looser touch compared to composite makes it nicer to handle
  • Shock Absorption: It has slightly-better shock absorption, making it well-suited for long-distance transport. Retains tension even when loads settle or shift.

How to Use Cordweb

Woven strapping is secured using phosphate-coated buckles, which offer enhanced grip and corrosion-resistance. To ensure you are reaching the system breaking strength of the Cordweb, use a tensioner to tighten.

As the load shifts during transit, the strapping's structure allows it to stretch slightly and still maintain tension - unlike steel, which can stretch too much to maintain tension under similar conditions.

This securement method ensures long-term reliability in over-the-road shipping, export applications, and internal warehouse transfers.

Woven Strapping Rating

When working with our woven strapping, you need to stay aware of the system break strength, This rating reflects the maximum strength of the complete securement system -  the woven strap paired with a compatible phosphate-coated buckle and tensioned using a proper tool.

If you apply woven strapping by hand without a tensioner, the actual break strength will be significantly lower than the rated system value.

When selecting woven strapping for a job, ensure the system break strength exceeds the total weight of your load. For example, if you're securing a 2,000 lb. load and your woven strap’s system break strength is 1,000 lbs., you'll need to use at least two straps to meet or exceed the required strength threshold for safe handling and transport.
