Load Bars for Trailers

Load lock bars are a smart way to secure cargo for transport and to maximize load safety by preventing shifting that might cause product damage.

What is a Load Lock?

Load locks or load bars are implements designed to attach to your trailer or truck wall using either tension or a track system. Once attached, they create a barrier that prevents excessive cargo movement. Depending on the style they may also be used to create shelving for additional storage space.

If designed to attach using tension, the bar typically extends out to a certain length, then can be incrementally adjusted until the necessary tension is achieved.

For bars that work with track systems, they lock into place using an extendible fitting on each end. Their design includes an easy-release trigger mechanism meant to be functional even when wearing thick gloves for safety.

When to Use Load Bars

Load bars are a key element in keeping heavy or bulky items confined to one area of your cargo space. They prevent cargo from shifting and causing damage to your truck or other transport items in the event the truck rolls over a curb or hits a bump.

They can also act as replacements for trailer load straps if used at multiple levels. If a portion of your cargo exhibits stress in one direction and another portion does not, these bars are strong enough to accommodate this flexing without compromising load safety.

Lock bars can even increase the usable space in your cargo area. Create decking areas by securing two or more load lock bars at the same height within the trailer. Then, lay down plywood sheets or other decking material to make a new floor for additional cargo.

When using shoring beams to create decks, be sure that the weight of your cargo doesn't exceed the horizontal working load limit of the logistic bars.

Safety note: It's important to secure each cargo load bar against the sidewall of the trailer when not in use. If left loose on the floor or on decking, they can become projectiles in an accident. You can secure your load locks easily by attaching E-track bars to the tracking system or by bungeeing / strapping other load locks to a trailer fitting.

Types of Load Locks for Trailers

Load locks can stand alone or work with a track system - which is right for you?

E-Track Load Bars / Shoring Beams

E-track load bars have fittings that allow them to be mounted into E-track installed on the interior walls of your trailer. Each extends to fit the width of your trailer (standard options are 97" or 103"). This extension also allows them to expand or contract as required to accommodate shifts in temperature or tweaking. E-track load locks are crafted using aluminum or steel and come with easy-to-use release mechanisms.

These shoring beams can be used individually or to stack smaller cargo at multiple levels. If you create another storage level, you can install additional beams to prevent shifting on the second level as well.

These are ideal for more heavy-duty applications and come with a working load limit - our strongest option is rated for 2,200 lbs.

Cargo Bars

Cargo bars are ideal for use in pickup trucks or smaller trailers. They are extremely versatile and can be used for more than holding cargo in place; they can also be used in place of locking ratchet straps when you want to push cargo away from a surface rather than use force to pull it toward an anchor point.

Non-skid rubber pads protect the cargo and floors/walls of your truck, and depending on the style, they can extend up to either 70" or 104.5" wide.

Note: These bars rely on a tension fit, so there is no working load limit and they cannot be used to create decking.

Ratcheting Cargo Bar

Our ratcheting cargo bar is fitted with a ratchet that allows you to adjust the tension incrementally for a very secure fit. Lifting the ratchet handle allows the bar to extend or retract quickly when you need to adjust for large amounts of slack.
