Cordstrap Strapping Tensioners
Strapping tensioners are an essential tool for strapping cargo securement. Whether you're shipping freight across the country or organizing inventory in a warehouse, they are critical for achieving the system breaking strength of your strapping.
Types of Strapping Tensioners
Our strapping tensioners come in both manual and battery-operated styles to meet the demands of every jobsite and budget. Each is designed to maximize tensioning power, ensure safety, and streamline your securement process.
Manual Cordstrap Tensioners
Best-suited for low- and medium-volume strapping operations, manual strapping tensioners come with an ergonomic handle for ease of use, as well as an innovative strap guider to ensure effective tensioning.
Constructed from lightweight materials, these tensioners can handle both indoor and outdoor usage, even in environments with a lot of dirt or dust. They provide the highest pre-tension in the market.
These tensioners come in two tiers:
- Basic Strapping Tensioners: Ideal for light-duty jobs or occasional use, they offer no-nonsense performance at a budget-friendly price.
- Premium Strapping Tensioners: While they have a similar design, these tensioners are built to be more durable with better-quality materials to handle medium-volume jobs
Battery-Operated Strapping Tensioners
The top choice for medium- and high-volume operations, this efficient Cordstrap tensioner reduces operator fatigue and delivers fast, consistent results on every application.
The one-handed design and ergonomic handle make it simple to use, and it has an adjustable tension force that goes up to 800 daN / 1,800 lbf.
This battery-operated model is more expensive than manual tensioners, but is more than worth the investment due to the increased efficiency - you are saving on labor! When properly maintained, they can have a long service life.
Why Use a Strapping Tensioner Tool?
Using the correct strapping tensioner is the only way to achieve the listed system breaking strength of your woven or composite strapping. Without proper tension, cargo can shift, straps can loosen, and safety is compromised.
A strap tensioner ensures consistent performance, saves strapping material, and helps meet industry standards for securement.
How to Use a Strapping Tensioner

Using a strapping tensioner is easy - whether you are using manual or battery-operated, they share some key steps:
- Squeeze the handle so the gripper foot / clamp comes up. Feed the strap that's going around the bundle / pallet into the clamp, leaving yourself some space between the tensioner and the buckle. Release the handle.
- Feed the loose strap coming out of the buckle into the cutter and the ratchet.
- Pump the handle or squeeze the trigger on the battery-operated model to spin the winless ratchet and add tension. As you tension, the buckle and the tool are going to come closer together, which is why you don't want the tool too close to the buckle initially.
- Add tension until the buckle's bottom legs are closed completely (the top legs will close first).
- Use the cutter to cut the strap and separate the coil from the bundle or pallet.

Choosing the Right Tensioner
There are several factors to keep in mind when choosing a tensioner:
- Volume of use: For medium- and high-frequency use, battery tensioners deliver speed and comfort. For low-volume use, a manual tensioner can get the job done.
- Strap type: Different models are compatible with woven or composite strapping, as well as different strap widths.
