Eye bolts are used in many ways but are most commonly used as anchor points for wire rope or in lifting applications. Shoulder lag eye bolts a common variety of rigging hardware and typically used in situations where the base material is thick enough that using a traditional eye bolt is not practical due to length.

Stainless Steel Lag Eye Bolt Uses

Lag Eye Bolts are usually installed into wood and work well for angular lifting and loading due to the shoulder design of the lag bolt. The shoulders help prevent the shank from bending; however, it’s important to remember that loading at an angle will significantly reduce a bolt’s rated capacity. Never load at an angle less than 45 degrees from the bolt centerline.

Type 316 Stainless Steel

US Cargo Control’s stainless steel shoulder eye lag bolts are made from Type 316 stainless steel. T316 stainless steel is considered “marine grade” and contains molybdenum, which makes it resistant to ocean water mist or spray, so it’s especially useful in extreme conditions or moisture or a high chloride environment.
