Crosby® Easy-Loc Bolt Type Shackles

Crosby® Easy-Loc Bolt Type Shackles replace the traditional nut-and-cotter-pin bolt securement with a tool-less locking collar that engages by hand - no wrenches required. This collection covers three Crosby Easy-Loc lines, spanning 25 to 300 metric tons: the G2130E anchor shackle (six sizes, 1-3/4" through 4"), the G2140E alloy anchor shackle (nine sizes, 1-1/2" through 5"), and the G-2160E wide body shackle (125, 200, and 300 ton).

For crews running heavy lifts, a loose cotter pin at height is a real hazard, not just an inconvenience. Bolt securement has to be checked before every lift to avoid dropped objects - the Easy-Loc collar exists specifically to remove that risk without adding a step to your rigging process.

G2130E vs. G2140E vs. G-2160E: Which Line Do You Need?

The G2130E and G2140E are anchor shackles. At the same pin size, the G2140E carries a higher Working Load Limit - a 2" pin is rated 35 tons on the G2130E versus 55 tons on the G2140E. The G-2160E is a wide body shackle built for sling connections, with a wider bow that protects the sling. Beyond capacity, the three lines differ in design factor, proof testing, and finish:

• Quenched and tempered; can meet DNV impact requirements of 31 ft-lb (42 Joules) at -4°F (-20°C)
• Meets or exceeds all requirements of ASME B30.26 - including identification, ductility, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements - and additionally meets impact property and material traceability requirements not addressed by ASME B30.26

Shop Replacement Components

A worn or damaged bolt or collar does not have to mean replacing the whole assembly. Crosby supplies the Easy-Loc bolt and its locking collar under separate stock numbers, so you can replace only the part that is worn.

Easy-Loc Replacement Collars

Stocked in 1-1/2", 1-3/4"-2", 2-1/2", 3", 3-1/2", and 4" sizes. Crosby uses the same collar stock number on same-size G2130E and G2140E shackles, so one collar covers both lines at a matching pin size. The 1-1/2" collar is specific to the G2140E, because the G2130E line does not offer that size.

Easy-Loc Replacement Bolt Kits

Stocked in all six G2130E sizes and seven G2140E sizes (1-1/2" through 4"), each with the bolt plus its matching locking collar, matched to the parent shackle. See the tables above for the exact kit for each shackle.

Easy-Loc for In-Service Crosby Shackles

The Easy-Loc system is also compatible with standard Crosby® G-2130, G-2140, and G-2160 shackles already in service, so crews can move to tool-less bolt securement without retiring sound shackles. Contact us to confirm the Easy-Loc parts needed for your shackle's size.

After replacing any load-bearing hardware, fit only genuine Crosby® parts, inspect the shackle before it returns to service, and where required have a qualified person recertify it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you side-load a Crosby shackle?

Easy-Loc shackles are designed to carry load along their centerline, and angular loading should be avoided wherever possible. Crosby publishes specific rated-capacity reductions for angular loading, and those reductions vary by shackle size. Before side-loading any shackle, refer to the current Crosby warning and application instructions supplied with the product, and contact Crosby Engineering for any load applied at an angle beyond their published limits.

What sling angle can these shackles handle at full capacity?

Maximum included sling angle at full Working Load Limit depends on the size and capacity of the shackle, and the larger sizes are more restrictive than the smaller ones. Consult the current Crosby application guidance for the specific size you are rigging, and contact Crosby Engineering for the 150 ton and larger sizes.

What is the design factor on these shackles?

The G2130E carries a 6:1 design factor, the G2140E a 4:1 design factor, and the G-2160E wide body a 5:1 design factor.

Is the G2140E stronger than the G2130E?

At a matching pin size, yes. The G2140E carries a higher Working Load Limit, meets the performance requirements of Grade 8 shackles rather than Grade 6, and is individually proof tested at every size rather than only at 85 tons and above.

When should I use a wide body shackle?

Use a G-2160E wide body shackle when connecting synthetic web slings, synthetic round slings, or wire rope slings on heavy lifts. Its wider bow gives at least 58% more sling bearing surface than a standard bow, increases usable sling strength by at least 15%, and eliminates the need for a thimble.
