Sentry Lift® HMPE Synthetic Slings

Sentry Lift® slings are built from HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene) fiber webbing, a patent-pending design from webbing manufacturer OTEX, engineered and brought to sling form by Lift-It. The fiber structure is designed to work similarly to chainmail, distributing force across overlapping fibers so the sling dissipates stress instead of concentrating it at a single point of contact. The result is a synthetic sling built for rigging teams who need more resistance to cutting and abrasion than standard nylon or polyester webbing can offer, without giving up the flexibility and light weight that make synthetic slings easier to handle on the job.

Sentry Lift® slings are available in Endless and Eye & Eye configurations, in a range of widths and working load limits to match your lift, from smaller choker and vertical hitch applications up through heavy basket-hitch loads.

WHY CHOOSE SENTRY LIFT® HMPE SLINGS

Sentry Lift® webbing is designed to outperform conventional polyester and nylon sling webbing across the wear factors that shorten sling service life on the job:

• Abrasion-resistant. Company-stated testing shows Sentry Lift® HMPE webbing offers abrasion resistance up to 24 times greater than conventional polyester and nylon webbing.
• Cut-resistant. Cut resistance up to 7 times higher than standard sling webbing, so the sling holds up better against sharp load edges and rough handling.
• Low elongation. Up to 80% lower elongation under load than conventional webbing, for a more predictable, stable lift with less stretch.
• High tensile strength. Tensile strength exceeding 15,000 lbs. per inch of webbing width, giving you more working load in a comparable sling footprint.

Because the fiber structure spreads load across overlapping strands rather than a single stress point, Sentry Lift® slings are built to hold up to repeated use in demanding rigging environments better than traditional webbing designs.

Built for long-term value: Sentry Lift®'s wear resistance and longer service life add up to strong long-term value. Depending on your application, that also means you can choose a Sentry Lift® sling with greater capacity in the same dimensions as a standard sling, or downsize to a smaller, lighter Sentry Lift® sling that still matches the capacity of a bulkier standard one, whichever fits your rigging setup better.

Temperature limit: Do not expose Sentry Lift® slings to temperatures above 140°F (60°C).

SENTRY LIFT® SLING TYPES

Sentry Lift® slings come in two configurations, so you can match the sling to how the load is rigged.

Endless Slings

Endless Sentry Lift® slings are built for versatility. Because the sling body forms a continuous loop, connection and load points can rotate around the sling, and the body can spread out to reduce contact pressure on the load. Endless slings support choker, vertical, and basket hitches, and an end taper is available on request for easier hook and shackle connections.

Eye & Eye Slings

Eye & Eye Sentry Lift® slings are available in Half Twist Tapered and Half Twist No Taper styles. Tapered eyes are standard on widths of 2" and above; narrower widths are furnished as Half Twist No Taper unless otherwise specified.

Because of the cut and abrasion resistance built into Sentry Lift® HMPE webbing, no additional eye protection is needed on slings in normal use, unlike most nylon and polyester eye & eye slings, which tend to show the earliest wear right at the connection points. That means less added bulk at the eyes and a sling built to use its full service life at the connection, not just in the body.

SENTRY LIFT® SLING INSPECTION & CARE

Synthetic slings, including Sentry Lift® HMPE slings, should be inspected before each use. Per ASME B30.9:

"Slings in contact with edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces shall be protected with a material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage." (ASME B30.9 (2021), Section 9-5.10.4(d))

Sentry Lift® slings should not be exposed to temperatures above 140°F (60°C). While Sentry Lift® HMPE webbing provides substantially improved resistance to wear and damage compared to traditional materials, no sling can eliminate all risk of damage. Proper rigging practices, operator training, and adherence to all applicable regulations and usage guidelines remain essential.
