4 Leg Slings
Four Leg Bridle Slings
Looking for a sling that can handle a wide variety of lifting setups? Look no further - the 4 leg sling is easily adaptable to accommodate multiple configurations. The four attachment points allow for superior weight distribution, so they can better handle heavier loads than slings with fewer legs.
Choosing Your 4 Point Lifting Sling
The three available sling materials are nylon, wire rope, and chain. The one that's right for you is dependent on several factors.
The Jobsite Conditions
Before you purchase, think about your environment. Will there be chemicals or acid involved? What will the temperature be during the lift? Will the sling frequently need to be transported by your team?
All of these can affect your decision. For example, nylon lifting slings are unaffected by grease and oil, but can be damaged by bleaching agents and acids. They also should not be used in temperatures above 194 degrees Fahrenheit. They are lightweight, so they are easy to transport.
Wire rope slings have high temperature and abrasion resistance. They can handle more demanding environments than nylon, and are more cost-effective than chain.
Chain slings are the ideal choice for the most rugged environments. They maintain their integrity at temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and they are abrasion- and cut-resistant. On the other hand, 4 leg lifting slings made with chain can be much heavier than wire rope and nylon and are more expensive.
The Load
You'll also need to think about the weight of the load, as well as its shape, condition, and edges.
The most important variable here is the weight - you need a 4 leg sling with a working load limit that's high enough to safely lift your load.
As for other factors, nylon is ideal for fragile cargo, but wire rope or chain slings are the better choice if it has sharp edges. Nylon is also flexible enough to handle irregularly-shaped loads.
