The Nylon Lifting Sling Experts

US Cargo Control is a trusted expert in the nylon sling industry. Our made-in-the-USA web slings are manufactured from heavy duty material that’s been treated to improve abrasion resistance and reduce wear, even in the most rigorous lifting applications.

Learn more about our rigging straps by watching the video below.

Web Slings Construction

Our heavy-duty nylon slings are built to handle the requirements of your lift - they are made from 9,800 pounds per inch industrial grade nylon webbing.

Nylon is stretchier than polyester and is resistant to strong alkalis and other basic chemicals. It's susceptible to acids and bleaching agents - if you need a sling that can stand up to these agents, check out our polyester round slings.

We make most of our nylon lifting slings in-house to ensure quality and a quick turnaround. Learn more about our production process:

Hoist Strap Tagging

Our web slings are tagged with their working load limits to meet industry standards. The tag is securely sewn to the strap and includes vertical, basket, and choker hitch capacities when applicable.

Made of Corfam imitation leather, the tags perform better than leather when exposed to the elements and the stretching heavy-duty lifting straps endure.

Sling Proof Testing Certificates

If your job requires proof testing, we can provide certification for a nominal fee.

Proof testing is a process where the sling is pull-tested to 2x the vertical rating and officially recorded as proof for governing bodies. During the standard manufacturing process, only random slings during a production run are tested for compliance; in order to provide proof testing certificates with your order, every sling must be pull-tested at the time of manufacture.

For many straps, we can perform this testing at our facility with our in-house test bed. This allows us to fully control the process and get your straps to you quickly.

Please request proof testing certificates at the time of order to ensure accurate processing.

Types of Web Crane Straps

We offer a wide variety of rigging strap styles, perfect for a vast range of lifting applications. Most are referred to by both their name and a type number (Type 1, Type 2, etc.). They can be made from single or multiple plies, include wear pads or sleeves, and are available in numerous lengths and widths.

Type Name Vertical Hitch Basket Hitch Choker Hitch
1 Triangle Choker Y Y Y
2 Triangle Y Y N
3 Flat Eye & Eye Y Y Y
4 Twisted Eye & Eye Y Y Y
5 Endless Y Y Y
6 Reverse Twisted Eye Y Y Y
7 Reverse Flat Eye Y Y Y
8 Continuous Wide Eye N Y N
9 Attached Wide Eye N Y N

Nylon Triangle Choker Sling: Type 1

The nylon choker sling uses steel triangle end fittings to reduce wear and tear on the eyes. This setup eliminates contact that can cause abrasions and shorten the lifespan of your product.

Designed with a triangle on one end and a choker fitting on the other, this sling is perfect for vertical, basket, and choker hitch uses. Due to that flexibility, this sling is a popular economical choice.

The standard style includes steel triangles and 1- to 2-ply straps. Aluminum triangles and 3- to 4-ply versions are available too - call to speak to one of our sling experts to learn more.

Triangle Sling: Type 2

A triangle sling strap is similar to a Type 1 sling but has steel triangles or d-rings on both ends. These nylon crane straps can be used in a vertical or basket hitch only.

The triangle end fittings act the same way an anchor shackle would for an eye & eye sling, making them a good alternative when you want that functionality built into the sling.

The triangle fittings are made from alloy steel but can be made from aluminum (in limited sizes) upon request.

Flat Eye & Eye Web Sling: Type 3

Eye & eye nylon sling straps are very versatile as they can be used in choker, vertical, or basket hitches. They come in various widths ranging from 1" to 12" and can be made with 1-ply, 2-ply, 3-ply, or 4-ply thickness. We can also custom make an eye & eye sling to your specifications.

Need something with a little less stretch? Eye & eye polyester round slings are available too.

Twisted Eye & Eye Sling: Type 4

Similar to the Type 3 flat eye & eye sling in both width and ply thickness options, twisted eye nylon slings have a different eye style. This modification does not affect the break strength or working load limit, and it works better when used in a choker or basket hitch.

Endless Sling: Type 5

Endless nylon slings can be used with any of the three most common hitches. This lifting strap is formed by joining the ends of the webbing together with a load-bearing splice. This simple design makes them extremely practical, as well as durable, since you can easily change the contact area when you use it, dramatically decreasing the wear and tear on the fabric.

When measuring for an endless sling lift strap, keep in mind the sling is laid flat and measured end to end. It is not measured as a circumference.

Endless nylon lift straps are also available in a round polyester design.

Reverse Eye Web Slings: Type 6 & 7

Reverse eye slings can be used for choker, vertical or basket hitches and consist of durable nylon hoisting straps covered with tough CORDURA® fabric wear pads. This feature helps resist cutting and abrasion. It also lets you reverse the eyes so the other side can be used as a second wear surface, doubling the service life.

The reversed eye at both ends is equal to 1/2 the body width. They stand at 90 degrees to the sling body to prevent any twisting of the eye or sling body when using a basket or choker hitch.

These hoist straps are also available with flat eyes (Type 7 sling), although the reverse eye is typically more popular. Chat with our sales team today to discuss Type 7 options.

Continuous Eye Wide Rigging Straps - Type 8

The continuous eye wide lifting sling is great for extra heavy loads that require a wide body for stability - it can be as wide as 24" with a 2-ply thickness, creating up to a 131,700 lbs. basket rating. The eyes are a part of the body, allowing for extra strength.

Continuous eye nylon hoisting straps are very similar to Type 6 slings, but have a heavier load bearing capacity and tapered eyes due to the wider nylon webbing involved. These straps can only be used in basket hitch applications.

The length of continuous eye wide web lifting slings is determined by laying the sling flat and measuring from one end of the nylon sling to the other, including the eyes.

Attached Eye Wide Crane Straps - Type 9

These attached eye nylon lifting straps are designed for lighter loads that require a wider surface area for load stability, so they're perfect for hauling delicate or finished surfaces. This style is for use with basket hitches only.

Due to the smaller eye design, the ratings max out in the basket hitch at 10,000 lbs.

Bridle Slings

Bridle slings offer the versatility of a chain or wire rope bridle sling with the lightweight and easy-to-handle appeal of nylon. Compare to other multi-leg lifting slings like chain or wire rope, benefits include reduced overall lifting weight and added shock absorption due to the stretch of the fabric (each leg of a nylon bridle sling will stretch approximately 3% at rated capacity).

Available in single leg, double leg, triple leg, and quad leg configurations, these slings can be fitted with oblongs, hooks, or sewn loops.

Boat Web Slings & Boat Lifting Straps

Nylon lifting slings and straps excel as boat slings. Their stretchy straps help to distribute the weight and make the job easier and safer. Because of the variety of boat sizes and styles, our boat lifting straps are available in all shapes and sizes.

Economy boat slings can be made of 1- or 2-ply nylon and have end fittings such as pear links or triangles. These types of heavy duty lifting straps are perfect for smaller boats such as kayaks and canoes.

We also offer heavy-duty boat slings up to 4-ply in design. We can customize nearly any boat lift sling you need. Call one of our experts today for more information.

Rigging Strap Care and Maintenance

Our durable, heavy-duty nylon lifting straps and slings will offer years of use when cared for properly. To extend the life of your crane sling, keep these guidelines in mind:

  • Improper loading use: Overloading, unbalanced loading, and shock loading can affect the overall strength of lifting slings and straps. This includes not maintaining a proper sling angle during use. The sling angle is measured between the webbing sling leg and a horizontal line. If the angle decreases, the load on each leg increases. Angles of less than 30 degrees should be avoided to maintain the integrity of hoist straps.

  • Abrasions and foreign matter: Punctures and damage to the fabric of nylon hoisting straps can reduce their strength. Nylon can hold foreign material like metal shavings and grit, which can seriously limit the working life of the sling. Regularly inspect and clean your straps.

  • Light and temperature: Repeated and prolonged exposure to sunlight or even light from an arc welder can stiffen and bleach a lifting strap. Nylon degrades at temperatures at or above 194 degrees F, so keeping your equipment protected from extreme temperature and light conditions is important.

  • Cuts: Nylon straps lifting cargo are susceptible to damage from load edge movement against the nylon. Nylon sling manufacturers suggest inspecting your appliance sling carefully before, during, and after use.

Nylon Lifting Sling Protection

"Slings in contact with edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces shall be protected with a material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage." - ASME B30.9 (2021) 9-5.10.4(d)

Comprehensive Lifting Solutions

We also carry wire rope slingschain slings, plasma® slings, high performance round slings, and specialty slings for lifting 55-gallon drums, known as drum slings.

If your job calls for a sling strap with less stretch, polyester round slings may be a good choice. Polyester sling straps have a stretch rating of only 3-5% at their rated capacity. They are also more pliable to prevent locking on the load.

We sell a full line of lifting beams for load distribution and balancing as well.
