Nylon webbing is a strong flat material that’s ideal for applications like lifting slings and recovery straps due to its natural ability to stretch and retract. This versatile nylon strapping is widely used for transportation, marine, military and agricultural applications as well as outdoor recreation uses. Our nylon web products are sold in widths from 1" to 12, in 300' rolls and are available in yellow. Different widths of flat nylon webbing offer different tensile strengths; work load limits will vary by application. If you need a length or color that we don't have listed here, contact our sales staff and they will be glad to assist you. Ask your sales associate about our nylon webbing wholesale volume discounts if you will be ordering a large supply.
Our nylon webbing strap products are rated at 7000 & 9800 lbs. per inch of width which makes nylon webbing material a strong, yet inexpensive, choice for lifting slings and many other uses. Able to withstand temperatures up to 194 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius), nylon web strapping is durable under extreme circumstances. Such web strap has a natural ability to stretch approximately 5-7% at rated capacity and approximately 30-33% at breaking strength. Nylon strap also has the ability to retract a good percentage of the stretch which is why it is very popular for recovery straps and lifting slings. The "snap-back" helps recover vehicles stuck in mud, sand and snow for recovery and the stretch is ideal for lifting in sling webbing applications.
Also be sure to check out our selection of Polyester Webbing and Polyester Seatbelt Webbing, which have some properties similar to nylon webbing/strapping. If you have any questions regarding any of our webbing products and which would work best for your job, please feel free to contact our sales team and they will be glad to assist you.
Webbing: Nylon vs. Polyester
Polyester webbing is another popular choice for many applications, but there are a few key differences between polyester straps and nylon web straps:
Nylon strapping absorbs water at a quicker rate than polyester webbing, and will stretch when wet- up to 2% of its length. Nylon webbing should not be used in bleaching agents or acids. Nylon web strapping does have the ability to retract a good percentage of its stretch and it is very useful in avoiding shock loading. It’s also extremely useful in handling extra large loads, such as in a sling application.
Polyester webbing has a lower stretch value, which increases load control by reducing bounce. Both polyester and nylon web strap are suitable and durable in temperatures up to a Fahrenheit temperature of 194. Nylon webbing and polyester webbing are also both typically unaffected by oil and grease.
Comparing the various tie-down uses for polyester and nylon webbing highlights the strengths and differences of each. Nylon’s shock absorption qualities make it extremely useful for motorcycle tie downs, while polyester webbing with its low elongation makes it ideal a cargo strap on a flatbed truck, where it’s imperative that the load does not move.
While our bulk nylon webbing is sold in yellow and in rolls of 300', we can work with you to supply nylon webbing by the yard, and in special colors. If you have any questions about the uses, strengths, size, etc. of our polyester or nylon webbing straps, call and speak to our sales team. They can also help you with any special requests you may have in placing an order.
