Jaw & Eye turnbuckles are designed with a jaw on one end and an eye on the other. Forged jaw ends are fitted with bolts and nuts on sizes 1/4" through 5/8", or pins and cotters on 3/4" through 2-3/4" sizes. Eyes are forged and elongated for easy assembly and more uniform stress distribution. For turnbuckle sizes 1/4" through 2-1/2", a shackle one size smaller can be reeved through eye.
Load-bearing end fittings undergo normalizing or Crosby®"s unique Quenched and Tempered® methods, which produce harder, tougher steel. Bodies are heat-treated by normalizing. These processes provide a turnbuckle assembly that has superior impact and fatigue qualities and assures performance. Hot-dip galvanizing on all components combats corrosion in harsh environments.
Modified UNJ thread on end fittings improves fatigue properties by minimizing stress at the root of the thread. Body has UNC threads.
Components bear Crosby®"s logo and size, as well as the Product Identification Code (PIC) to help monitor and manage quality of the item throughout the manufacturing process.
Designed to meet specific fatigue performance levels, these Fatigue Rated® turnbuckles are tested to a minimum standard of 20,000 cycles at 1-1/2 times the working load limit, and meet fatigue requirements of the Euronorm standards. Proof load is 2-1/2 times the working load limit. Ultimate load is 5 times the working load limit.
NOTE: Turnbuckles are made for straight or in-line pull only.
Meets or exceeds all requirements of ASME B30.26, including identification, ductility, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. Also meets other critical performance requirements — including fatigue life, impact properties, and material traceability — not addressed by ASME B30.26.
Meets the performance requirements of Federal Specifications FF-T-791b, Type 1, Form 1, Class 8, and ASTM F-1145, except for those provisions required of the contractor.
We also sell Crosby turnbuckles with the following end fittings: Jaw & Jaw, Eye & Eye, Hook & Eye, and Hook & Hook.
