Crosby® Turnbuckles

These turnbuckle assemblies have the value-added benefits and dependability the world has come to expect from Crosby®. Constructed from special bar forging quality steel, we sell them with the following end fitting combinations: Jaw & Jaw, Jaw & Eye, and Eye & Eye.

All turnbuckles are heat-treated. Bodies are normalized. End fittings "" those areas designed for load-bearing and exposed to high-stress applications "" are Quenched & Tempered® or normalized. This provides enhanced impact properties for greater toughness at all temperatures. Crosby®"s perfected methods of steel heat treatment aim to fully develop the strength and enhance the grain flow of carbon and alloy forgings. These heat-treat processes reduce the risk of a brittle, catastrophic failure, and assure the performance of the turnbuckle assembly. Turnbuckles will begin to deform if overloaded, providing a warning before ultimate failure.

Bodies have UNC threads, while ends are threaded with a modified UNJ thread to minimize the stress at the root of the thread. Components have a high-quality, hot-dip galvanized finish for corrosion resistance and long-term sustainability.

Turnbuckles are Fatigue Rated®, Crosby®"s way of identifying products that have proven to boost fatigue life (fatigue resistance) in actual use. Turnbuckles are tested at 1-1/2 times the working load limit for a minimum standard of 20,000 cycles. Will meet the requirements of Euronorm standards for fatigue.

Proof load "" the average force that can be applied to the turnbuckle before deformation "" is 2-1/2 times the working load limit. Ultimate load "" the average load or force at which the turnbuckle fails or no longer supports the load "" is 5 times the working load limit.

Crosby® forges its logo, as well as the size and Product Identification Code (PIC) into each turnbuckle component. PIC helps maintain material control from the steel mill through the manufacturing process; each turnbuckle is individually "PIC Coded" to allow traceability to its respective date of production and material certification.

NOTE: Turnbuckles are recommended for straight or in-line pull only.

Crosby® turnbuckles meet or exceed all requirements of ASME B30.26, including identification, ductility, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. They also meet other critical performance requirements like fatigue life, impact properties, and material traceability.

The theoretical reserve capability of each turnbuckle should be 5 times the working load limit (FF-T-791). All Crosby® turnbuckles adhere to these federal specifications.
