What Are Dunnage Bags?
Dunnage bags are inflated airbags used to insulate cargo items and stabilize shipping containers and vehicles. When inflated, they fill up the gaps between pallets, crates, and barrels, and provide shock and vibration absorption that causes shifting and moving. This added layer of protection reduces damage to products and other goods that lead to loss in revenue, angry customers, and potentially a marred company reputation.
Using these products over other types of cargo security has its benefits:
-
Cost-Effective
Dunnage bags do the same amount of work (if not more) than other products. However, they cost a fraction of the price of others.
-
Easy To Use
These bags are lightweight and can inflate/deflate in as quick as 30 seconds or less! Store these products away easily when not in use.
-
Versatile
Use dunnage bags in a variety of ways. They work in almost any type of cargo and adjust to their placed containers. (NOTE: Make sure to adhere to the void size of your bag.)
-
Reusable
Poly woven bags can be reused multiple times as long as they are cared for and not punctured. When stored properly, they have a shelf life of 60 months. The material makes these bags 100% recyclable when they become unusable.
While dunnage bags can be used almost anywhere, they work ideally for enclosed trailers or shipping containers that have lots of tall, heavy, and/or fragile cargo.
Dunnage Bags from U.S. Cargo Control
Industrial dunnage bags from U.S. Cargo Control are made with both a polyethylene interior and a protective polypropylene layer with a polyethylene laminate to reduce the risk of puncturing. These air bags are Level 1 certified by the Association of American Railroads (AAR), meaning they work specifically for over the road trucks, rail cars (box and intermodal), and overseas ship containers.
U.S. Cargo Control's poly woven bags come in a variety of widths and lengths suited for different cargo sizes. When choosing a bag, make sure you know the size of cargo you plan on carrying as well as the void size, which is the area in between your cargo. Different bag widths will have different void sizes for optimal containment and bag pressure.
Most options are available to purchase in both a ten-pack and by the pallet.
