Twisted polyester rope is extremely strong and resistant to oils, gasoline, grease, and most chemicals, making it one of the most durable ropes available. Polyester absorbs only a small amount of water so there is only a slight loss of strength when the rope is wet. This resistance to water also keeps mold and mildew from forming, even if rope is left wet for an extended period of time. Although it doesn't have the amount of stretch that nylon rope does, polyester rope is superior to nylon for general abrasion resistance so it's great for high-friction uses.
