Stainless Steel Threaded Rod
When your project demands strength that holds up under exposure to moisture, salt, chemicals, or high humidity, stainless steel threaded rod delivers. Both 304 and 316 stainless are fully threaded, corrosion-resistant, and reliable in structural and mechanical builds. But the right grade depends on where you’re working, and what you’re working against.
304 Stainless Steel Threaded Rod
304 is the workhorse of stainless steel. Strong, clean, and cost-effective, it offers excellent corrosion resistance for most indoor and outdoor applications.
- Great for HVAC, plumbing, framing, and light structural use
- Resists rust in humid, wet, and industrial environments
- Weldable and easy to cut or modify on-site
- May become slightly magnetic after cold working
316 Stainless Steel Threaded Rod
316 steps it up with superior protection against chlorides, salt spray, and harsh chemicals. When failure due to corrosion isn’t an option, this is the grade to trust.
- Best for marine, coastal, food processing, and chemical plants
- High molybdenum content boosts resistance to pitting and corrosion
- Typically non-magnetic, even after forming or cutting
- Ideal for long-term outdoor exposure or embedded use
Built for Harsh Environments
Both grades are fully threaded and compatible with stainless nuts, washers, and couplers. Avoid mixing stainless with zinc or galvanized-coated hardware to prevent galvanic corrosion. These rods are easily cut to length and installed using standard tools.
Choose 304 for general-purpose corrosion resistance in most environments. Choose 316 when the environment pushes harder and you need guaranteed performance under extreme conditions.
