How US Cargo Control Creates High-Quality Custom Cargo Nets
At U.S. Cargo Control, we specialize in crafting custom cargo nets for our customers. If you don't find the right size net in our standard offerings, then we can make one that fits your specific needs.
You choose the webbing width and color, hardware, hole sizes, and overall dimensions, and we’ll first create a design for approval to ensure it’s what you need. Once this design is approved, then we’ll manufacture the net(s) to your specifications and ship them off to you!

How To Request a Custom Cargo Net
The process is simple. If you know what you're looking for in a cargo net, you can fill out our form and request a quote on our website. If you're unsure what you need, call our team at 888-794-1319, and our cargo net experts will guide you through the process.
As you go over the specifications with one of our teammates, we'll review the requirements and provide you with an accurate quote. We'll review the possible style choices, including webbing, color, dimensions, hole sizes, hardware, and stenciling. We'll also draft a grid drawing to ensure the dimensions are accurate.
After we review the overall purpose of your net and your selected styles and dimensions, we send the information to our cargo net experts.
Custom Cargo Net Options
Net Usage
Firstly, we ask how you plan to use your custom cargo net: is it for Business/Commercial use, or is it for Personal use? You choose between these two options.
Webbing Width
After that, we ask you how wide you want your net webbing to be. All of our custom cargo nets are hand-made by our manufacturers from durable polyester webbing that performs well under different load pressures. The wider your webbing is, the higher the breaking strength will be.
You can choose between 1" and 2" widths for your net webbing. 1" webbing can hold up to 4,500 lbs. of cargo, while the 2" widths have varying strengths between 6,000 lbs. or 12,000 lbs. (specify in the Other Information box below).

Webbing Color
You can also choose the color of your webbing. Specify whether you want your webbing to be orange, yellow, blue, green, red, black, camouflage, gray, or a different color. This information can be put in the Additional Information box at the end of the form.

Net Length
Once you specify the net's webbing, we ask you about the size of your custom cargo net. The net length is the distance between the last strands of webbing on your cargo net, not including the end straps and fittings. This length indicates the size of the cargo you plan to cover. You choose how long (in inches) you want this to be, no limit necessary.

Net Width
After specifying the net length, you also need to specify its width. Similarly, you tell us how large you want this to be in inches.
Hole Width
Our cargo nets are designed with square holes to add strength to your webbing. These holes are constructed in a variety of sizes to accommodate the size of your cargo. Smaller holes are better to prevent smaller cargo items from falling out, while larger holes work for larger items.
Choose between square hole widths of 4" x 4", 6" x 6", 8" x 8", 10" x 10", and 12" x 12" on the request form.
Overall Length
Finally, the overall length of your net includes the complete distance between the end straps and fittings of your custom net. This tells us how long you expect your end straps to be. You can choose the length of this as well, expressed in inches.

Hardware/End Fittings
After specifying the dimensions of your custom cargo net, you'll choose which end fittings you want. There are many different options to choose from. For a complete list of hooks and other end fittings, check out our Tie Down and Hardware page.
You can also choose a ratchet or cam buckle fitting for your end straps for further adjustability. Learn more about the differences by reading our Ratchet vs. Cam Buckle Strap blog post.
Other Custom Considerations
You'll also want to let us know the quantity of cargo nets you need, any custom stenciling you want on the webbing, or any other requests that were not covered in the form.
The Process of Creating the Perfect Custom Cargo Net
When the form is complete and given to the Cargo Net team, one of our experts will have 24 hours to create a spreadsheet and find the hardware. They connect with our production planner to identify parts that we can pull from our warehouse. Once the hardware is in the team's hands, it's time to start production!
How the Webbing Design Works

Each custom net is hand-made by working the webbing and using sewing machines to perform precise stitching. The layout process involves weaving the webbing in an over-and-under technique. It's not just for looks - it will provide more strength at each cross-section. The weaving technique allows our nets not only look higher quality, but also have better durability.
During the weaving process, the hole sizes are created from the spreadsheet. Once the webbing is linked, this sets up the strength that you will need to secure your items.
Then, when complete, they are to be packaged and shipped to you. The Cargo Net team will perform quality checks and ensure everything is correct and complete before it's shipped.
Cargo Net Uses
Though our heavy-duty custom cargo nets secure cargo, you can utilize them for other purposes! We've created cargo nets for fire stations where firefighters use nets to hold their hoses, as part of obstacle courses, and for businesses to secure their wine crates for transportation. Check out some creative and unexpected examples below:

Pickup truck cargo nets allow you to secure items inside the bed. Check out the truck cargo nets we carry.
Use as climbing walls for obstacle courses. These can be utilized for military bases, marathons, paintball activities, and more.
Or, as we mentioned earlier, use cargo nets to safely secure your crates of wine!

Custom Cargo Net FAQs
Q: How long will it take to receive the initial mock-up of my custom cargo net before approving it?
A: Once the request form is filled out, our experts will create a design for your custom net and send it to you as soon as possible. You will let us know if you require any changes to our first draft, and this will continue until you are satisfied with the mock-up of your custom cargo net.
Q: How are custom cargo nets made at U.S. Cargo Control?
A: We make all of our cargo nets, standard or custom, in-house at our warehouse in Urbana, Iowa. Our team of experts works diligently to provide you with the right fit you need.
Q: How do these nets differ from other types of cargo nets you offer?
A: Our custom cargo nets are made with polyester webbing. However, we offer different types of nets made of different materials, including personnel safety nets, scaffold and debris nets, and lifting nets.
To learn more about them, read our blog post on the types of cargo nets we offer here at U.S. Cargo Control.
Q: Why can't I make the square hole sizes bigger than 12" x 12"?
A: Our cargo nets do not exceed 12" square hole sizes. Any larger may reduce the net's strength and cause cargo to fall through during transport.
