How to Choose Fasteners When Installing E-track
Looking to install an E-track system but unsure which fasteners to use? Choosing the right hardware is essential for secure installation. The best option depends on what material you're installing into and the installation method.
We recommend three different fastener types depending on your trailer and mounting surface.
Through-Bolting Fasteners for E-Track

Through-bolting fasteners provide the strongest and most secure installation. This method uses a nut and bolt system to create the best possible hold.
Through-bolting is typically used in floor installations, where you can access the underside of the trailer to attach the nut and washer.
The 1/4" diameter bolt is available in two sizes: 1-1/2" hex bolt and a 2" hex bolt.
This option provides the most reliable hold for heavy-duty cargo control applications.
Self-Drilling Tip Screws for Metal

Installing E-track rails into metal walls or trailer frames? Self-drilling hex screws are ideal.
The self-drilling tip allows the screw to cut through metal without pre-drilling in most cases, helping reduce installation time and complexity while maintaining a secure hold.
Hex heads also help prevent driver slippage during installation.
Available in two sizes: 1-1/2" hex screw and a 2" hex screw.
Wood Screws

If you're mounting E-track to a wood trailer floor or wall, wood screws are the best option.
Hex head wood screws reduce the chance of slippage during driving, and the wide washer-style head provides strong holding power in wood surfaces.
Available in a 3/4" wood screw and 1-1/2" wood screw.
