Here's How Heavy-Duty our BlackLine Ratchet Straps Really Are

Working load limit is 6,670 pounds, assembly break strength is 20,000 pounds, and webbing break strength is 24,000 pounds. No doubt, the capacity specs on our heavy-duty BlackLine Ratchet Straps sound pretty impressive; but it's hard to understand the enormity of these numbers without some context.

BlackLine 2-Inch Heavy-Duty Ratchet Straps

The smaller of the two available widths, our 2-inch BlackLine straps are available with a flat hook, wire hook, or chain extension end fitting.

They all boast a working load limit of 3,333 pounds and an assembly break strength of 10,000 pounds for each individual strap. This means that two 2-inch BlackLine tie down straps are able to safely secure weight that's equivalent to an adult hippopotamus. Not that you would want to tie down a hippopotamus to your flatbed, but you get the idea. To look at it another way, you could secure the weight of about five speedboats with just two 2-inch BlackLine ratchet straps. Get yourself four of the 2-inch BlackLine straps and you'll have a working load limit that is plenty enough for the weight of a Monster Truck, and nearly enough for a helicopter or school bus.

BlackLine 4-Inch Heavy-Duty Ratchet Straps

These are the real deal when it comes to heavy-duty ratchet straps. Our 4-inch BlackLine straps are available with all the same end fittings: flat hook, double J wire hook, or with a chain extension.

All these options have a working load limit of 6,670 pounds and an assembly break strength of 20,000 pounds. That means that two 4-inch BlackLine tie down straps are rated to handle the weight of an adult male African elephant and nearly enough for the weight of a T-Rex or even a small jet. If you get four of these straps? You'll have a working load limit high enough to haul an armored car or the equivalent of about 5 full-size pickup trucks.

Why BlackLine Ratchet Straps Are So Strong

The break strength of BlackLine ratchet straps is the highest strength available today. This, in turn, is also what makes their working load limit so high. But how is this accomplished? Other than having extremely strong assembly strength, BlackLine straps have thicker edging compared to other tie-down straps. The webbing break strength on 2-inch BlackLine straps is 13,000 pounds and a whopping 24,000 pounds on the 4-inch BlackLine ratchet and winch straps. The webbing is created with a high concentration of fabric, rather than wire or other topical enhancements. This more durable webbing not only provides the extremely high break strength but also promotes a longer strap life.

In addition, all of the BlackLine straps with flat hook end fittings have a black powder-coated finish for extra protection from corrosion. Plus, we offer heavy-duty 4-inch BlackLine winch straps with the same working load limit and assembly break strength as the BlackLine ratchet straps.

Disclaimer: While we stand behind the strength of our heavy-duty BlackLine ratchet straps and winch straps (which are all labeled with their working load limit to meet CVSA guidelines, DOT regulations, and WSTDA, CHP and North American Cargo Securement standards) we do not recommend or condone securing animals (extinct or not) to flatbed trailers. Those examples were only meant to demonstrate the insanely high working load limits of our heavy duty BlackLine ratchet straps. Always check to ensure the weight of the cargo you are hauling is within the working load limit of the straps you are using.
