D-rings are the perfect solution for adding more tie down anchors to your trailer or enclosed van. It comes with a mounting clip for easy installation, and gives you the flexibility of placing anchor points exactly where you need them. This specific D-ring is designed so it can be either bolted on or welded on for optimal flexibility.

Compatible with a variety of tie downs, including transport chain, they can be used in a wide range of applications, but are most frequently used for equipment transport, including farm equipment, motorcycle, snow mobile, and ATV / UTV hauling.

This D-ring has no coating or finish so it can be welded to your trailer surfaces by a qualified welder. Before use, it should be painted, powder coated, or plated to help prevent corrosion and extend its lifespan. The mounting clip also has holes to allow for a bolt-on installation.

How to Choose a D-Ring

The primary considerations when choosing a D-ring are mount type, cargo weight, and what tie downs are being used:

• Mounting type is fairly simple - do you want a weld-on or bolt-on installation? This will generally depend on where you are installing the D-ring.
• Cargo weight and tie down type go hand-in-hand - you will choose your tie downs based on what cargo you are hauling. According to the FMCSA CFR49 sections 393.102-104, anchor points must be at least as strong as the tie down they are attached to. In other words, you want the D-ring to have an equivalent or higher load rating than your tie down.

Note: Before purchase, double-check to make sure your tie down attachments are compatible with the D-ring dimensions.

2-5/16" D-Ring Installation

This D-ring may be installed by welding or bolting, depending on the application and mounting surface. Installation should be performed by a qualified professional using appropriate materials and methods suitable for the intended use. The installer and end user are responsible for determining suitability for the intended application and ensuring proper installation and periodic inspection.

For weld-on installation: Welding should be completed by a qualified welder following accepted welding practices for the base material. After welding, apply an appropriate corrosion-resistant coating or finish.

For bolt-on installation: The fasteners must pass completely through the mounting surface. Use appropriate reinforcement such as fender washers, backing plates, locking nuts, or thread-locking compound to help prevent loosening during use. When additional strength is required, 3/8" SAE J429 Grade 8 carriage bolts may be used.
