What is AWRF Accreditation?

The AWRF Accreditation is a recognized mark of quality in the rigging and load securement industry that is completely voluntary for member organizations and their affiliated branches to complete. AWRF uses the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) as a third-party auditing partner to ensure adherence to the AWRF Recommended Practice for the Operation of Sling Shops. This comprehensive evaluation incorporates standards set by organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the Web Sling and Tie Down Association (WSTDA).

This means that products with AWRF accreditation meet rigorous quality, durability, and safety standards, and they undergo extensive checks to ensure reliability and customer safety. Once an organization successfully completes the audit, they will then be able to market themselves as an accredited member. According to AWRF, the goal of their accreditation program is to ensure safe sling shop operation, driving more business to members and help them earn more market share and value for their company.

The Road to AWRF Accreditation

Achieving AWRF Accreditation took a lot of dedication, teamwork, and a relentless commitment to quality. Our Quality and Manufacturing teams collaborated closely with an LEEA auditor to conduct the auditing process.

The Audit Process

During the audit process, every aspect of our in-house manufacturing practices was closely examined. The LEEA auditor reviewed our manufacturing procedures, material quality, traceability practices, product markings, and documentation, all of which are critical components to ensuring that we meet the high standards required for AWRF accreditation. Each of these areas required detailed documentation and accountability, with the audit generating a list of action items for our teams to address.

With the Quality Team taking point, these items were promptly handled, many of them even before the deadline. Special recognition goes to Joan Schultz and Adam Smith from the Quality Team, who worked tirelessly to address and complete the audit’s requirements well ahead of schedule. This level of collaboration and responsiveness underscores the strength and unity of the US Cargo Control team and our shared commitment to excellence.
