M&W Lifting J Hooks
Machining & Welding, better known as M&W across the industry, has established a proven track record of service, performance, and quality for more than 50 years. Like all of us here at US Cargo Control, M&W’s team of experts is committed to finding solutions that fit every customer's unique situation and technical requirements, helping to ensure they operate in safer, more accident-free environments.
We carry a wide variety of the company’s alloy steel Lifting J Hooks and Foundry Hooks to accommodate your specific application. M&W hooks feature an extremely slimmer profile than many other rigging hooks, allowing them to fit into tight spaces. Approved for overhead lifting, their long-lasting, durable construction is ideal for rugged jobsite or warehouse environments, such as hanging parts from assembly lines. All have welded eyes and a black powder-coat finish to resist rust and corrosion.
J-hooks are designed to install onto chains, hoists, and slings to efficiently support and move materials when sling, grab, or foundry hooks are not suitable. They are available in two types. Style A hooks have an eyelet that’s parallel with the rest of the hook, with hook diameter sizes ranging from ¼” to 7/8”. Style B’s eyelet is perpendicular to the hook body and comes in 1/4” to 1” diameters. Working load limits range from 100 to 2,600 lbs.
Compared to J-hooks, Foundry Hooks have tapered tips, along with a larger mouth opening (most sizes) and slightly smaller eyes. Choose from long or short reach, depending on the length you need. We offer ½”, 5/8”, ¾”, 13/16”, and 1” diameters, with working load capacities spanning 450 to 3,000 lbs.
M&W proudly manufactures all below-the-hook lifting devices to meet or exceed rigorous quality standards, including ASME B30.20 and OSHA 1926.251 specifications. Each hook for lifting bears stencil markings — centrally located on both sides for high visibility — with the working load limit and M&W logo. In addition, they are proof-tested to 125% of their stated WLL. DO NOT EXCEED RATED CAPACITY. Hooks can withstand temperatures up to 400◦F.
NOTE: These hooks are NOT recommended for painting booths or lines. Chemicals used in modern paint booth and paint line environments commonly contribute to the fatigue and crystallization of alloy steel when used repeatedly. In service periods longer than 6 months, J-hooks can become dangerously brittle, a condition that shortens their service life and could cause sudden and catastrophic failure.
Genuine M&W hooks are made in the USA.
