Jaw & Jaw turnbuckles feature a jaw end fitting on both ends. Jaws, the most highly stressed part of the assembly, endure normalizing or Crosby®"s Quenched and Tempered
® process to provide consistent performance for critical applications. Bodies are heat-treated by normalizing. Hot-dip galvanizing deposits a protective layer on components and helps prevent corrosion, extending both the service life and appearance of steel. Each body has UNC threads; a modified UNJ thread on the end fittings improves fatigue properties.
Forged jaw ends are fitted with bolts and nuts for 1/4" through 5/8", and pins and cotters on 3/4" through 2-3/4" sizes.
Each component contains the Crosby® logo, size, and Product Identification Code (PIC). Crosby®"s PIC system allows for traceability of each turnbuckle through the manufacturing process (from raw material to production), as well as helps ensure that proper controls are maintained.
Fatigue Rated
® to 20,000 cycles at 1-1/2 times the working load limit, and will meet the requirements of the Euronorm standards for fatigue.Proof load is 2-1/2 times the working load limit. Ultimate load is 5 times the working load limit.
NOTE: For straight or in-line pull only.
Crosby® jaw-jaw turnbuckles meet or exceed all requirements of ASME B30.26, including identification, ductility, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. Also meet other critical performance requirements — including fatigue life, impact properties, and material traceability — not addressed by ASME B30.26.
The theoretical reserve capability of each turnbuckle is at least 5 times the working load limit set by Federal Specifications FF-T-791b, Type 1, Form 1, Class 7, and ASTM F-1145, except for those provisions required of the contractor. We sell other styles of
