What are Ratchet Straps?

Ratchet straps are cargo tie down straps that use a ratchet as the tensioning mechanism. The ratchet device drastically reduces the amount of force needed to tighten your straps, meaning it's easier to add the perfect amount of tension to hold your load in place.

Prioritize Safety with Industry Compliance

All USCC straps are =DOT, CVSA and, WSTDA compliant

To ensure safe transport for both your cargo and your team, all of our ratchet straps have been extensively tested for safe use, and have labels with working load limit (WLL) and break strength. They also meet requirements / guidelines from several key authorities:

  • Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA)
  • Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Web Sling & Tie Down Association (WSTDA)
  • North American Cargo Securement

Comprehensive Ratchet Strap Selection

Our ratchet tie down straps are available in so many sizes and styles, there's something for almost every type of cargo securement application. Primarily made using industry-grade polyester webbing, these durable tie downs are ideal for both flatbed and enclosed trailer use. Polyester is extremely strong, with very little stretch, and can secure your load with ease. It's also UV-, abrasion-, and water-resistant, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for? Below is an outline of some of the different cargo strap features you can choose from.

Cargo Strap Width

Ranging from 1-4” wide, each size is made from industrial-grade webbing and has a number of potential applications.

1 inch ratchet straps tend to be used for more light-duty projects and are easier to store due to their smaller size.

If you are using E-track or L-track, chances are you are looking for a 2 inch ratchet strap. They are the most commonly-used size, and can handle most tie-down jobs.

Need something a little more substantial? 3 inch ratchet straps are designed for many of the heaviest applications and can provide a break strength of up to 15,000 pounds.

Go above and beyond with a 4 inch ratchet strap - these heavy duty tie down straps provide break strengths of 15,000 pounds and over!

Ending Fitting Options for Cargo Tie Downs

The end hardware is just as important as the strap width - it can affect factors like WLL and E- and L-track compatibility. Choose from flat hooks, wire hooks, chain extensions, S-hooks, snap hooks, and more.

See all of our end fitting options - we have more than ten available!

Ratcheting Tie Down Length

Depending on what you need to tie down, the length of the cargo strap will vary. It needs to be long enough to reach from anchor point to anchor point, but short enough that you won't have a lot of extra strap getting in the way.

Strap Color

While some tie downs are color-coded for easy length identification (for example, a 12' E-track strap is yellow, while a 16' is gray), you can also choose colors that match your brand, truck, etc.

Edge Protection

Even though polyester webbing is abrasion-resistant, cargo corner protectors are still recommended. They will extend the life of your strap by additional additional abrasion-protection, and will also prevent your strap from damaging your cargo. They better distribute strap pressure, and come in a variety of sizes and styles for compatibility with many applications.

Wear Sleeves

Cordura® wear sleeves for webbing are available in all four strap width options and offer a layer of durable protection to extend the life of the ratchet strap or other tie downs.

Winch Straps

If you are looking for a tie-down strap without a ratchet, check out our winch strap selection. Constructed using the same webbing and hardware, they can be used in conjunction with winches and winch bars.
