More About Shoulder Eye Bolts - Galvanized

Galvanized Shoulder Eye Bolts are meant for rigging applications that may need straight-line pulling or angular pulling.  The galvanized coating helps the eye bolt resist weathering and other forms of corrosion.  Shouldered eye bolts are very versatile and should be used instead of regular galvanized eye bolts when
angular pulling techniques are required.  The shoulder of the eye bolt
helps maintain the strength of the eye and the shank from bending or
deforming.  A straight vertical in-line pull would be 90°.  If the angle of the sling to the load drops to 45°, the eye bolt will be at 30% of it's rated capacity.  If the angle drops to 0°, the eye bolt's capacity will be diminished to 25% of rated capacity.

The threaded part of the rigging eye bolt must protrude through the load so the nut is allowed full engagement of threading.
If the steel eye bolt protrudes too far through the load, you may need to shim the bolt with washers between the nut and the load prior to putting the nut on.
