We carry a full line of galvanized and stainless steel shackles. Galvanized shackles offer added strength when needed but the chromium in a stainless steel shackle makes it ideal for marine applications.
Chromium has the amazing ability to form a passive film on the surface
of stainless steel that will resist the accelerating properties of
corrosion. Chromiuim also has an ability to continually repair itself
after the surface film is scratched, even in an oxidative environment.
Our stainless steel anchor shackles are type 316 (the 2nd most common other than type 304) which has an alloy addition of molybdenum. This stainless alloy is also known as marine grade stainless mainly due to its chloride corrosion resistance.
